In this class we will practice basic yoga postures (asana), learn the principles of optimal alignment, become more mindful of our anatomy, and so gain a deeper awareness of our whole selves. As strength, tone and flexibility increase, breath deepens, lengthens, and mind calms, - you will enjoy an increased sense of well being. In each class, Sylvia includes a gentle flowing sequence of postures and a wonderful shavasana (relaxation) to end.
This class is beneficial for all-levels of yoga experience and recommended for beginners.
Receive all the benefits of a smooth, gentle asana class! Classes begin with warm-ups and centering. Aspects of yogic thought, pranayam (breath) and meditation are integrated into the physical practice. Thorough instruction in individual postures is followed by a gentle flow, coordinated with breath. Learn the balance of ease and effort. Classes end with a wonderful relaxation.

“For the past two and a half years, yoga with Sylvia has been a major element in my successful recovery after suffering two herniated disks in the lumbar region. I’m not sure where I would be today without the patience, understanding and attention to working around my limitations that she has shown in helping me to regain strength and mobility after the injury. In retrospect, I wish I had started yoga 30 years ago.” - Dan Hrebenyk
“It’s hard to put to words how precious these classes are....however I can say Sylvia is a wise and wonderful teacher. I get a good mixture of spirit and strengthening and leave with a deep sense of peace. She helps me cultivate richer subltleties of being. What more could I ask for?” - Sandro Ainsley, Yogic Hair Stylist

Chair Yoga is for anyone who is not comfortable getting up and down from a yoga mat for any reason.
We usually start standing with a few easy movements to loosen up and ‘arrive’. The body of the class is done sitting on a nice solid, armless chair. Participants are encouraged to work within their level of comfort.
Benefits will be felt from gentle elongation of the spine and opening the chest area. We also do hip openers, hamstring lengtheners and arm & leg strengtheners! Simple breathing techniques calm the mind and relax the body. Tension is released, circulation improves, mobility increases, breath deepens and you feel better! Laughter ensues. It is a great group and we have fun!

Employees and employers will receive many benefits to improve their enjoyment and efficiency in the work place, including stress reduction, both mental and physical, and a clearer, calmer mind for more focused concentration and better working relations.
Classes will include stretching and strengthening of the spine and core muscles and some guidelines for the care of the spine and lower back while at work. The postures combined with some simple breathing techniques relax tension and improve circulation and respiratory function...resulting in a sense of calm and well-being. The strengthened immune system reduces absenteeism from work.
Each session closes with a luxurious relaxation. Participants leave feeling fully refreshed.
A suitable space is required. A warm, clean, open space large enough to allow the participants to stretch out.
Private or semi-private classes are available.
A few private classes is a great way to get ready to join a class. Or therapeutic yoga can help with health issues. We work together to design a practice specifically for your needs.
